History Undergraduates secure Summer Fellowships

Riley Ford, Franco Batista Garcia, and Kaleb Hernandez have been accepted to the University of Wisconsin’s Summer Research Opportunity Program. They will travel to Madison WI, all expenses paid, for approximately 2 weeks to work closely with mentors and gain skills valuable for postgraduate study.

MA Student Publishes Article

The latest edition of Tequesta, the journal published by historymiami, features an article written by MA student Iris Kolaya entitled ‘Richard Kiehnel: Master of Adaptation’ which analyzes the work of a leading south Floridian architect from the 1920s onwards.

PhD Alumnus wins essay prize

Sven Kube’s (Ph.D. 2020) article “Shop of the Pops: Socialist Consumers, Capitalist Performers, and the Record Market that United Them” in Issue 5 of the Journal of Popular Culture has won the Popular Culture Association’s Russel B. Nye Award for the Outstanding Article published in the Journal of Popular Culture. Congratulations Sven!

Dr. Capo appointed to Advisory Committee

Professor Adler lands NIH Grant

Dr. Jessica Adler has secured a three-year National Institutes of Health grant in the sum of $150,000 to pursue her next book project entitled: Minimal Standards of Adequacy: A History of Health Care in US Prisons.
